Demolition

This department has been awarded a number of medium sized contracts throughout Kent for various clients over the last few months. These works have been either strip out or demolition to various different types of building all of which have been completed well within the set out time scale.

Landmarc, Lydd Ranges

Our groundworks department has recently completed, well within time, a very challenging contract to refurbish the track for the Light Railway in Lydd Ranges which is used for moving target shooting. The challenge for this contract was that this entire site is in an area of outstanding natural beauty which gave a very restricted working area and required a 7 day a week working to meet the client’s time frame.

Blackhouse Hill, Hythe

Our building department has been awarded a further refurbishment contract for external repairs to 5 properties for a client in Hythe, with work due to be completed November 2011.

Sittingbourne Dental Surgery

The building department, after protracted negotiations, has secured the contract to build a new dental surgery in Sittingbourne. These works involve the conversion of an existing empty building into a new, state-on-the-art surgery including a training facility. This is a 16 week contract which is due for completion at the end of February 2012.

Waverley house

Our building department have been awarded the refurbishment of a large property in Greatstone that is split into three flats. This work includes repairs and repainting to the outside of the building and complete strip out and refurbish of two of the flats. This work is being carried out for a new private client with work due to be completed in August, 2011.

Water Works & Civil Engineering Division

This division have recently started work on a contract for a new private client in Densole to put in all the infrastructure and drainage for a new private housing development being built to Code 3 for sustainable homes using rainwater harvesting. This contract is on a labour and plant basis only with a tight completion time of 10 weeks.

Landmark Surfacing

We have been awarded a further two contracts for Landmarc for resurfacing works at St Martin’s Plain Camp and Hythe Ranges. This follows on from the highly successful demolition contract of 33 buildings at various locations throughout the South East and we are very pleased to be able to continue our association with them.

South East Water

Our water works department have, once again, secured various maintenance works which are ongoing on selected South East Water properties which are ranging from painting, roofing, valve and pipe work to stream and riverbank protection. We are pleased to be able to say that we are able to respond to a lot of these problems on an emergency call-out basis that has now worked very well for many years with South East Water.

Landmarc Demolition

We are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded our largest ever demolition contract by Landmarc for the demolition of 33 buildings at various MOD locations throughout the South East. Many of the buildings contain asbestos as well as other hazardous materials and all of this work has to be completed within a very tight 8 week programme, meaning 7 day a week working. This is the second contract this year that we have carried out for Landmarc and I am very pleased to be able to continue our association with them.

Manston Airport

The demolition department have recently carried out a contract for InterServe for the demolition of a former ammunition building at Manston Airport in Kent. This building was severely damaged when an airport fire engine ran away and crashed through one side of the building. Due to the nature of the usage of the building and the structural damage caused by the fire engine it made the demolition process quite complex but we were able to meet the programme requirements as set out by the client.

Dacapo Building, Canterbury

We have been awarded a further contract from Ringway Infrastructure Services for the demolition of the Dacapo Building at Wincheap in Canterbury. This work is required to clear an area for a new slip road onto the A2 Canterbury by-pass. This contract is the latest of several contracts that we have carried out for Ringway Infrastructure Services in the last 24 months.

Our demolition department has recently carried out a contract for Kent County Council for the removal of redundant buildings at the former Earlscliffe Adult Education Centre, Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone. This was part of the KCC’s withdrawal programme from these premises which are to be handed back to the Landlords. This contract had to be carried out within very stringent time constraints which we are pleased to say we were able to meet.

Groundworks Department

Our groundwork department has recently been awarded a contract on a private dwelling in Lympne, Kent to stabilize the property by carrying out major underpinning and land slippage works for a national insurance company. This is an 8-week contract which is particularly challenging due to a large amount of underground springs on the site as well as a severely restricted access to the property.

Turketel Road

Our groundwork department has recently completed an extension on a bungalow for a private client is Turketel Road, Folkestone. This project had to take into account the needs for a certain amount of disabled living amenities to suit the client’s needs.

MOD

Our specialist civils department has been awarded a contract for Landmark in Lydd Ranges to install new ballistic protection around the MOD training village. This work needs to be carried out within a very tight time frame whilst the ranges are closed for their summer break and has led to some staff having to carry out specialist training to meet with the criteria on this project. This is the latest of many projects that we have carried out in the last few years for the MOD and its agents.

Pennypot Dental

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a 4th contract for Pennypot Dental, this time to refurbish their Hythe surgery. This project is particularly challenging as the surgery needs to remain open whilst the work is being carried out meaning that most of our works will have to take place outside of the surgery opening hours. The project starts on the August Bank Holiday weekend and is due to be completed within 8-weeks.

Our demolition department is currently undertaking a second contract for the Ministry of Defence in Hounslow; this involves asbestos removal and demolition of the original guardroom for this establishment. We are very pleased to be able to continue our association in carrying out projects of this nature for the MOD.

Gasworks Lane

Our Groundworks division has secured a contract with Ringway Infrastructure Services at Gasworks Lane in Ashford to provide car parks and bases for a new stores building for Southern Gas Networks Plc. This is a 10-week contract and is due for completion at the end of May, 2010.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway

Our groundwork department has recently carried out a ‘bridge replacement over water’ for the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. We were particularly pleased to be awarded this contract and be involved with the continued upkeep of this major tourist attraction in the South East. This contract was particularly complex due to the regulations surrounding work on railways and was subject to a strict 3-week shutdown on the line, but even allowing for these complexities our Groundworks team excelled themselves and managed to complete the project well within the allotted rail closure time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway for using our services and would like to wish them every success for this coming season and the future.

New Addition:-

We have just placed an order for a new specialist 13T excavator for our demolition division which is due for delivery in April. This shows our continued commitment to the demolition department after a very successful years trading.
